It all started several years ago at Christmas. We asked Dad what he wanted for Christmas and he said "white tube socks." We laughed it off and bought him other things. Then for his birthday we asked what he wanted. He said "white tube socks." Once again we bought him other things. The next Christmas rolled around and once again he asked for "white tube socks." We tried telling him that they don't sell them anymore, that they are out of style. We even bought ankle socks, I believe his new TV was even included as a Christmas/Bday gift. But every birthday or Christmas he would bring up that he didn't get what he really wanted. Those blasted "white tube socks."
Well, He had a birthday last week. Once again no one bought him "white tube socks." We did celebrate though by re-watching the Super Bowl as if we had never seen it. We had Super Bowl food and wore our NFC champ gear and even had some friends over to watch. (they had only been able to listen to the game on the radio not WATCH the game) We thought Dad had a pretty good birthday. He got a gift certificate to take a class on BBQing and Smoking, he got a Seahawks Superbowl Champ Fleece jacket, and the Seahawks Superbowl DVD. Seemed that he should be happy right. Wrong. No "white tube socks."
Until, he checked his email. The favorite kids Chyla and Chase had sent him a gift card to Amazon.com
Within minutes he knew what he was going to buy. Two days later he came into my room with his prize.
He said "take my picture and post it somewhere!" When I asked where he wanted me to post it he said he didn't care he just wanted to thank Chyla and Chase for his new "white tube socks." He ordered a 6 pack of "white tube socks" and that is how Chyla and Chase are currently holding favorite child status.
Today was the day the first pair got to visit the world. I am lucky I was home when he got dressed. Otherwise the world would have been deprived of this scene. Once again he came to me and said "post this on instagram." So, I did but no this was not the end. Tonight after he got home he came and reported that his socks didn't fall down at all today and it was great wearing socks without any holes.
On a side note Dad thinks "white tube socks" are going to come back into style now.
